Who is Eva Solo?

Ever heard of Eva Solo? No, I’m not referring to Eva Angelina Solo, the porn queen. I’m talking about the 60-year old Danish company that in 1997 launched an amazing and unique line of home and kitchen products.

I originally noticed these products during a visit to Norwich, England last year. John Lewis, one of Britain’s toniest shops, had a display of Eva Solo kitchen products that knocked my socks off. These things are so good looking that they are nearly pieces of art. And like Vinturi Wine Aerators, they are very cool conversation pieces.

Rather than buying something and lugging it back over the pond, I waited to shop for my very own Eva when I got home. Unfortunately, I was surprised to learn that these things are fairly scarce in our retail shops. A few specialty stores on Rodeo Drive, Fifth Avenue and Worth Avenue stock them. Maybe now that Scottsdale, Arizona finally has a Barney’s we’ll soon have a shop that carries Eva Solo, too. In the meantime, I took I’m going to shop online.

Eva Solo products aren’t just beautiful. Customer reviews say that they’re solid, great pieces of equipment. The company slogan is “the ultimate combination of appearance and functionality,” and from what I’ve seen and read, that’s a pretty accurate statement. For example, I found a review from a true coffee connoisseur about the Eva Solo CafeSolo Coffee Maker that included accolades such as:

What a coffee maker. It made my Kona sing. It showed me cherry flavour in a Colombian coffee. It’s looks sexy and techie at the same time. And it has its own clothes!

We happily give it a 10 out of 10 – given its brewing method, there’s almost nothing can think of to improve it’s output and value, except perhaps the inclusion of a measuring spoon and maybe another $10 or $15 drop in price.

And this is probably the best looking bread boxes I’ve ever seen. Can you imagine how cool your kitchen would look with one of these in it? That could make bread my favorite food! Love the fact that it snaps shut with magnets.

Eva Solo isn’t inexpensive. It’s a quality product, with more design awards than I can count. We all want our homes to be beautiful, chic and fashionable. Add functional to that equation and buy yourself at least one piece of Eva Solo at Cooking.com or Amazon.
