Laithwaites Wine
4 Seasons Wine Club is a relatively new wine club to the USA, but has been a top choice in Europe for years.  I’ve had the pleasure of visiting two of Laithwaites Wine Shops in London and in Windsor, and really enjoyed the atmosphere, the selection, and especially the prices.  Last year, when I first heard that Laithwaites Wine Club, would be available in the USA, I wrote a post announcing it.

But I hadn’t had the opportunity to try the wines in a long time. Recently, Bruce from our Buffalo Wine and Dine Dinner Club, became a member and invited us over for a little wine tasting. I was very impressed.  I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.  Laithwaites was the winner of the Wine Merchant of the Year Award for both 2010 and 2011.

Yep, you still get the usual extra freebies that come with joining a wine club.  With Laithwaites, you’ll receive a pretty good quality corkscrew set and the wine tasting notes.  But it’s all about the wine with the 4 Seasons Wine Club from Laithwaites.   Decanter has delcared “2009 is the best vintage Bordeaux has ever produced,” so you can try the Château de L’Abbaye 2009 to see if you agree.  Prefer white wine?  Taste the Raymond Family Chardonnay for an elegant, French oak quaff.

And the prices – really very good, especially with the special introductory deal.  Join Laithwaites Wine Club and receive 12 Bottles of Premium Wine for Less Than $6/Bottle.

I may not be able to make the trip over the pond to Laitwaites Wine Shops in England for awhile. But I’m really happy that I can take advantage of their selection in the good old U.S. of A.

WSJ Wine Cub
In previous years, The WSJ Wine Club is one that I’ve written about and really liked.  The quality of the wine is pretty high in this price range.  I’ve always been surprised by at least a couple of the bottles in each shipment, and only once remember getting that scowl that says “ewwww.”  Additionally, the customer service is outstanding.

And the price is still amazing.  Only $69.99 for a full case of wine.  That’s less than $6 per bottle.

So it’s really cool to let you in on a little secret:   The selection of wines offered by The Wall Street Journal Wine Club has improved.  They’ve added a few high-end, well respected winemakers (like William Knuttel, who previously produced those beautiful and expensive Pinot Noir’s at Saintbury).  They also are including a more diverse selection of varietals and international wines.  Instead of the usual California Merlot and Washington Cabernet, you can expand your wine horizons and taste Malbec from Argentina and Primivito from Puglia.

Prefer white wine?  WSJ Wine Club will send you Chardonnay, of course, but you can also try Torrontes, which is unique to Argentina, or Voignier from Chile.

You still get the cool wine opener set ($49.99 value) and tasting notes to really help you with your new wine journey.  Before you know it, the holidays will be here so order now -  Join WSJwine Club Now & Save $110 On a Case of Hand Selected Wines

After ten hugely successful years in the UK, Virgin Wines has FINALLY brought their wine club to the US.  It’s been worth the wait.  Andy Baker, the Virgin Wine Head Honcho of Wine Selection, explains in this short video:

To give you the opportunity to find out for yourself just how great the Virgin Wine Club is, you can take advantage of this special introductory offer. 12 terrific wines – JUST $69.99 (you save $100. Nice, huh?) Delivered right to your door, you can choose a mixed case, all red or all white wines. You’re also going to get a FREE electric corkscrew set with handy foil-cutter and plug-in charger (they ARE cool – Jay loves his electric wine bottle opener) and free wine tasting notes. Don’t like what they send you? No worries. Just give them a ring, and they’ll give you a refund. No hassles at all, but I’m betting you’re more likely to call them to get more of these wines.

So hurry up before Richard Branson decides to save all this wine for his Virgin Galatic Space Shuttle. Join Virgin Wines Club and Save $100 on 12 Hand Crafted Wines, only $69.99 plus free gift
